Callum White has scored 34 goals for Marlow this season
Marlow Men's 1sts were crowned champions with their 5-0 away win over Reading 2a on Wednesday last week, and with it secured promotion to the league above with two games to spare.
After an even first half the Reds took control just before the interval with two clinical finishes from corners from Sam Burroughs and Callum White. That buffer enabled Marlow to dominate the second half and Charlie Hunter, Ben Hoggan and Freddie Pollard scoring from open play to seal another comfortable league win.
Saturday must have felt a bit like ''after the lord mayor's show ' for the Reds, and they were made to work for their 2-2 draw at Witney, a result which maintains their unbeaten record this season.
An early injury to Freddie Pollard disrupted their rhythm and Witney took full advantage, scoring twice in quick succession to take a stranglehold on the game. Marlow managed to regroup and held their own until the break and a goal just after the interval from Hunter gave them the impetus to go on and claim another positive result.
White then bagged his 34th goal of the season to level the scores.
Having wrapped up promotion and the league title, Marlow will now look to maintain their unbeaten record through to the end of the campaign. They're next test is at home to Fareham on Saturday, with a 4.30pm push back at Pound Lane
Despite their narrow mid-week defeat at Oxford Hawks, Marlow's second team came into Saturday's home game with Berkhamsted in good form, having won three of their last four matches. And that inner confidence showed as they strode into a 2-0 lead courtesy of two well-taken goals from Dan Field. The visitors halved the deficit in the second half, but Ant Williamson quickly restored Marlow's two-goal cushion, and Field netted twice more to take his season's tally to 16 as the hosts ran out 5-2 winners.
Other results saw the 3rds beat Wallingford 2nds away, the 5ths lose 5-0 to Witney 2nds, and the 6ths lose 3-1 to Newbury and Thatcham.
Marlow Women's 1sts cemented third place in the division with a confident 5-2 win over local rivals Sonning on Saturday. Kerri Smith got the off to a perfect start when she converted from a penalty corner after five minutes. Kiera Foster dispatched their second with a penalty stroke after Sonning had scored a rocket of an equaliser to make it 1-1, while Foster then played in Emily Miskell to make it 3-1. Marlow kept the pressure up and managed a fourth before the half-time break through Kerri Smith again.
Having bagged a second goal themselves before the break, Sonning pressed hard in the second half only to be thwarted by some strong defence from the likes of Nat Riches and Jane Smith put the icing on the cake late on with a fifth goal for the visitors.
The 2nd team wrapped up the league title and promotion as they dispatched Aylesbury 1sts 4-1 at home on Saturday. Lenny Conetta (two), Freya Hulse and Estelle Palmer on target.
Other results saw the 3rds lose 3-2 away at Staines 1sts, the 4ths lose 4-3 to Witney 2nds and the 5ths lose 4-1 away at Staines 2nds.
The 6ths beat Amersham & Chalfont 6ths 4-0 to win their league title and the 7ths defeated Amersham & Chalfont 7ths 3-1 away.
