Kipper the Dog jumps from page to stage at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts

Kipper the Dog is jumping from the page to stage for a run of festive performances at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts in Maidenhead.

Based on the award-winning children’s books by Mick Inkpen, Kipper’s Snowy Day is showing at the centre until Sunday, December 30.

Suitable for children aged three and over, the show was originally performed in 2014 when it was created by Norden Farm and theatre company Slot Machine.

The companies met with Mick Inkpen during the creative process, and he gave the script his seal of approval.

Mick says: “Rather than a literal interpretation of my books it was more important to me that Slot Machine had free rein to explore the stories from a playful theatrical perspective, provided they captured the character of Kipper and the spirit of the books. They have absolutely done that.”

The show is brought to life by the skilled puppeteers, who create magic and mischief in equal measure. It is filled with original songs and music and, in keeping with the book adaptation, the set is inspired by the concept of a snowy night and the blank page of a book.

Best known for his creations Kipper the Dog and Wibbly Pig, Mick Inkpen’s books have been translated into 20 languages and more than eight million Kipper books have been sold worldwide.

He has won the British Book Award twice for Lullabyhullaballoo and Penguin Small, and the children’s book award for Threadbare.

Tickets for the show are £14.50 | £12.50 under 16s | £50 Family & Friends (4 people).

They are on sale now and available from the Box Office on 01628 788997 or online at https://norden.farm/events/kipper-s-snowy-day-28.
