Jon Underwood celebrated his birthday with a 'brilliant' Rebels win.
Slough Town FC have now gone four matches undefeated in the National League South after they overcame Maidstone United by one goal to nil on Saturday afternoon.
Brought on as a substitute in the 76th minute, Warren Harris made an immediate impact from the bench and headed in the game’s solitary goal after being found in acres of space in the box.
The forward’s return from injury is a huge boost for Jon Underwood and Neil Baker, with the Rebels now looking up the table rather than down.
They play Dorking Wanderers next.
Thanks for all the birthday wishes and a big thanks to our lads for another brilliant win! Can’t praise them enough for the turnaround in recent weeks! Time for a few beers! #alltherebels— Jon Underwood (@JonUnders) November 6, 2021
Just a town away, Windsor FC were beaten 2-1 by Abbey Rangers in the Combined Counties Premier North Division.
Mark Cooper’s men looked to have snatched a draw away from home when Danny Horscroft scored from a corner kick in the 85th minute, following Rangers’ early opener.
However, the Royalists’ defensive frailties were again ever present as two minutes after their midfielder’s leveller, the hosts found the back of the net.
Windsor travel to Wokingham and Emmbrook next.
Elsewhere in the division, Holyport FC – yet again – walked away from their home fixture with their heads in their hands but the belief in their hearts they gave it their all.
They lost 2-1 to Southall courtesy of a 90th minute penalty which ensured Derek Sweetman’s side wouldn’t take anything from this match.
The visitors took the lead on the stroke of half-time before Adam Sharp was able to restore parity after the interval with a poacher’s finish.
Port would’ve undoubtedly been content with a point against their high-flying opposition but could not see one out as the side gave away a spot kick in the game’s dying embers.
They welcome Manny Williams’ Blues to home turf in their next match.
Such a great display and effort from the side today, after 2 big defeats recently they should be applauded for their efforts today, minutes away from taking a point from a very good Southall side. Need to take this forward to Friday night!!!— Holyport FC (@HolyportFC) November 6, 2021
Finally, Burnham FC were thumped 3-0 by Reading City at the 1878 Stadium as Manny Williams continues to search for his first win as Blues boss.
Goals from Tyler Cruz, Dan Davies, and Michael Butcher saw the Cityzens take three points back home with them from this local derby.
In the Spartan South Midlands Premier League, Flackwell Heath picked up an impressive 3-1 victory at Aylesbury Vale Dynamos.
New manager Chris Ayres and assistant Paul Shone have won three of their four matches since taking charge and are aiming for a place in the top four.
James Keeley, Adam Thomas and Ashley Howell were all on the scoresheet this afternoon, to confidently keep Ayres’ and Shone’s ambitions credible.
The Heathens face Penn and Tylers Green in the League Challenge Trophy on Tuesday evening.
In the Isthmian League South Central Division, Marlow FC were beaten 2-1 at Chertsey Town.
Mark Bitmead had opened the afternoon’s scoring on the half-hour mark and the hosts could have doubled their advantage just five minutes later.
Junaid Bell was able to restore parity, however, in the 76th minute from new signing Khalid Simmo’s well-worked assist.
But, not long after Marlow found the back of the net, Chertsey fired themselves back in front through Magnus Abisogun.
A heated final five minutes followed with the hosts picking up a red card for violent conduct on Marcus Mealing.
But Mark Bartley’s side’s were unable to prevent their second defeat of the season, a loss which drops them into sixth place in the league table.
They play Larkhall Athletic in the FA Trophy next.
Maidenhead and Slough travellers have long been waiting for the arrival of Crossrail to whisk them quickly into central London.
Burnham Park Academy and a scenic spot near Windsor and Eton Bridge are among the locations to feature in a new romantic drama on Netflix.
