Slough Jets have appointed defenceman Mindy Kieras as their new club captain and assistant coach.
Kieras, who will be supported by alternate captains Matt Towalski and Ales Padelek, is one of the top defenceman in the league and is second in the club scoring statistics this season at more than a point a game.
Having watched eight players depart The Hangar in the past few weeks, including Darius Pliskauskas and Kamil Jarina in the past 24 hours, new head coach Craig Morgan was delighted to announce the appointment of Kieras.
"Since my employment with the Slough Jets things have been moving forward and we have just played out a great win at the weekend," he said.
"After a great deal of thought I have decided that I'm appointing Mindy as both my captain and assistant coach and both Matt and Ales will wear 'A's for the remainder of the season.
"I know all three will be great leaders for the team and I’m looking forward to working with them."
Kieras said: "It's an honour to be named a captain of the team.
"I have played with many good leaders since I got here so you try to take bits and pieces from all the guys that you play with and they really helped form the player I am now.
"As a captain I want to move forward and leave in the past everything that’s happened recently in the club.
"We still have half a season to play in 2013/13 and I will make sure we compete in every shift of every single game to win something here."
