 The Jets fell to their second defeat of a frustratingly fruitless weekend as they lost 3-2 at the Swindon Wildcats on Sunday. 

Mindy Kieras and Andrej Vasiljevic returned to the Slough side for the visit to the Wildcats, and Aaron Nell opened the scoring for Swindon on 18.41, finishing from assists from Jonas Hoog and Lee Richardson.

The second period saw 26 shots fired in on the goals, but with two of the league’s top netminders on duty it yielded just one goal, an equaliser for Mindy Kieras on 36.16.

Three minutes into the final period Swindon got their noses back in front with Sam Bullas scoring a powerplay goal and Jan Kostal gave them a two-goal buffer with another strike on 47.53.

Slough ensured a tense finish when Ryan Webb scored on 54.38, but the Wildcats closed out for  the win.

The Jets lost ground in the race for this season’s play-off championships following a 4-0 home defeat to eighth-placed Bracknell Bees on Saturday.

The Jets, ninth in the division above only the Peterborough Phantoms needed to win to reel in the Bees who have now moved five points ahead of them on 39 points.

The loss of Mindy Kieras to a game ban was a huge disadvantage to the hosts who fell behind when Matt Foord opened the scoring on 9.23, before Grant Rounding doubled their lead on 9.45.

The Jets battled well in the second period, and managed nine shots on target, but Rounding doubled his tally on 46.32 and 16-year-old Ivan Antonov scored the Bees’ fourth with 4.54 left to play.
