In the first race tonight at Royal Windsor Racecourse, Smokey Lane is the stand out horse form wise, however Richard Hannon has Endeavour who is unraced and if there is confidence in the market I would suggest this one is certainly worth watching.
The second is a seller with only five runners. Gary Moore has won this race the last two years and has the two leading contenders in Mount Shamsan and Gaelic Silver. I would tend to opt for the market leader – Gaelic Silver on this count as he is consistent form wise.
A fairly open maiden is the third. John Gosden has Stratum who is the most experienced and achieved the most of the eleven runners. From the relatively exposed bunch Henry Candy has had a great season and Capton represents him tonight. The horse is well bred and will be interested to see how he goes tonight. Also it’s worth keeping an eye on the market on Sir Michael Stoute’s Transmitting as this horse should have some ability and the yard is in good form.
The fourth race is for fillies and again has just the five runners. Luca Cumani’s Materialistic is my pick she is relatively unexposed but made an encouraging start when winning at Newmarket last autumn.
The fifth in the finale of the Sky Bet Windsor Sprint Series – and with £48,000 up for grabs – it looks a competitive affair. I like Eve Johnson-Houghton’s Goring, who came into form two weeks ago when running over the course and distance and clearly goes on the fast ground. Rosie’s Premiere has also caught my eye, she seems to be coming in for form with a second fifteen days ago and has won here at Windsor.
The strong contender in the last is Ickymasho for Jonathan Portman who won last month and appears to be a very consistent performer. Interestingly Mark Johnson is making the long trip to Windsor from Middleham with Yorkindred Spirit and maybe worth noting.
