A gardener is digging deep to support the Alexander Devine Children's Hospice Service with a sponsored 87-mile walk across The Ridgeway.
Nigel Trafford, from Lane End, decided to raise money for the charity after hearing about it from his friend Mark Appleyard, captain at Stoke Park Golf Club, which decided to make the Alexander Devine its charity of the year.
Nigel will walk along the ancient route that runs from Ivinghoe Beacon in Buckinghamshire to Overton Hill in Wiltshire on Saturday, August 22.
The 52-year-old, whose business is called Absolutely Gardenous, said: “I have wanted to do The Ridgeway for a long time. Until I spoke to Mark I hadn’t realised there wasn’t a local children’s hospice.”
He has raised £650 so far, but hopes to raise more than £1,500.
